Higher Dimensional Analogues of Châtelet Surfaces

چکیده
We discuss the geometry and arithmetic of higher-dimensional analogues of Châtelet surfaces; namely, we describe the structure of their Brauer and Picard groups and show that they can violate the Hasse principle. In addition, we use these varieties to give straightforward generalizations of two recent results of Poonen. Specifically, we prove that, assuming Schinzel’s hypothesis, the non-m powers of a number field are diophantine. Also, given a global field k such that char(k) = p or k contains the p roots of unity, we construct a (p + 1)-fold that has no k-points and no étale-Brauer obstruction to the Hasse principle.

In his thesis, Caldararu described twisted Fourier-Mukai transforms for elliptic fibrations. In this talk I will describe how certain holomorphic symplectic manifolds can be deformed to integrable systems, i.e. fibrations by abelian varieties. These are higher dimensional analogues of elliptic K3 surfaces, and twisted Fourier-Mukai transforms
متن کاملFailure of the Hasse principle for Châtelet surfaces in characteristic 2
Given any global field k of characteristic 2, we construct a Châtelet surface over k that fails to satisfy the Hasse principle. This failure is due to a Brauer-Manin obstruction. This construction extends a result of Poonen to characteristic 2, thereby showing that the étale-Brauer obstruction is insufficient to explain all failures of the Hasse principle over a global field of any characteristic.
